| New Technologies: DVS Descriptive Video Service |
| MPTV offers Descriptive Video Service for a limited number of PBS programs. The service enables visually impaired viewers to understand what is happening on the television screen. It provides supplemental descriptions voiced over the regular audio track of the program that create a verbal picture without disturbing the original dialogue.
Viewers can access descriptive audio through the Multichannel Television Sound (MTS) control function on their TV menu. Please consult your owner's manual for more details.
Weather and classical music services are now available on MPTV's digital channels. They previously were provided on the Second Audio Program channels for MPTV-10 and MPTV-36.
Classical music plays on MPTV 10.5 (Time Warner Cable 554) while weather reports fill the visual portion of the broadcast. MPTV-Classical features music selections from primarily the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras. The service comes from WFMT Radio Networks which boasts a library of more than 65,000 records and CDs.
Weather reports with audio are available on MPTV 10.6 (TWC 555). World Radio Network broadcasts air while weather pictures occupy the screen on MPTV 10.7, and jazz music provides the audio for weather video on MPTV 10.8. (Both 10.7 and 10.8 are broadcast only over-the-air). Local traffic reports from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation appear periodically on all of the stations carrying weather information.
